Liverpool Injury News: Major blow for Jurgen Klopp, this could ruin Liverpool’s title chances – originally posted on

Liverpool are set to be without their charismatic midfielder Philippe Coutinho for the next six weeks.

The Brazilian playmaker damaged his ankle ligament in a collision with Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong on Saturday. Liverpool managed to pick up a 2-0 win against the Black cats, but Coutinho’s injury will be a massive blow for them.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been in scintillating form so far this season and Coutinho has been one of Liverpool’s best players. His link up play, long range shooting and passing ability has taken Liverpool to a whole new level.

Guardian are reporting that Coutinho is expected to return in January and the Brazilian will miss matches against Bournemouth, West Ham United, Middlesbrough, Everton, Stoke City, Manchester City and Sunderland.

Liverpool are in the title race right now and losing their best player during a challenging festive period could ruin their title hopes. Furthermore, Daniel Sturridge is out with an injury as well. The only boost is that Coutinho’s compatriot Roberto Firmino is expected to be fit for the weekend despite picking up a knock against Sunderland. Adam Lallana is expected to return as well.

Although the Reds have a lot of depth this season, it will be hard to replace a top class player and match winner like Coutinho. It will be interesting to see if Klopp decides to sign someone when the transfer window opens in January in order to beef up his attack.
